Character Background: [I am super sorry this is so long. There's only so much I like to paraphrase. :C ]

Once upon a time, he is born as David, as a twin. Rumplestitskin comes to his family's farm when he's just a child, telling his parents that the king and queen of their country need a child, and that they'd pay handsomely if they give them one of the twins. David's brother James is given away, and David is raised by his parents, unaware he has a brother. Fast forward many years later, and James is killed. Rumplestiltskin once again comes to the farm where David lives with his mother. He learns of the truth, of his brother and what his parents did. Rumplestitskin offers to save their family farm if David agrees to pose as Prince James and take his brother's place and slay a dragon for King Midas. David agrees.

The plan is for his brother's knights to kill the dragon and for him, as James, to take all the credit. They travel to the dragon's layer, his knights kind of suck, and he ends up killing the dragon by himself. Midas gives him his daughter's hand in marriage as a reward. He initially refuses, but King George threatens his home and his mother if he doesn't agree. So, he returns home to tell him mother that he needs to continue on this ruse and never see her again. She gives him her ring and tells him to give it to the girl he loves. He returns to the kingdom and decides to take the scenic route to Midas' kingdom with Abigail [Midas' daughter]. This seemingly small choice is what changes his life forever.

On the way to Midas' kingdom, they get stopped by a fallen log. He gets out of the carriage, leaving a pouch with his mother's ring in it, and goes to examine the tree. Turns out, the tree was cut down, and he turns to see a thief escaping with said pouch. He chases and captures the thief, who turns out to be a woman. She hits him with a rock and escapes. Later, that same thief comes out from hiding and gets caught in a net. He gloats, she calls him Charming, and he discovers that this girl is in reality, Snow White. He threatens to hand her over to the Evil Queen if she doesn't tell him what happened to the pouch, especially his mother's ring. She agrees, and he cuts her down. After another escape attempt, she finally takes him to the Troll bridge, where she's traded the jewels for coins. Snow White saves his life, and they go their separate ways.

Few days later, Charming realizes that he's fallen for Snow, and King George notices. Cue the threats. Charming writes a letter to Snow, telling her to come to the castle if she feels the same. Snow does come, but George intervenes, and threatens to kill Charming if Snow doesn't comply. She has no choice but to reject Charming and leaves the castle. Even after this, Charming leaves the castle so he doesn't have to marry Abigail.

Some point down the road, he's captured by Abigail's henchmen, and he helps her free he lost love from being a gold statue. He goes to Snow's latest hideout only to find Red Riding Hood, who tells him that Snow's living with the dwarves now. George's men find them, but Red holds them back by turning into a wolf so he can get free. He discovers someone along the road that tells him that Snow's on her way to kill the Queen, but he doesn't believe it. Someone else tells him that she had traveled to Rumplestiltskin's palace, so he goes there next. Everything he's heard about Snow is true, and Rumplestiltskin tells him that only true love's kiss can help her now. More traveling. He arrives to see Snow preparing herself to kill the queen. He kisses her, but it doesn't work. She knocks him out and chains him to a tree. He's woken up by Jiminy Cricket, who frees him and begs him to stop Snow. More travel. He ends up taking an arrow, saving the Queen's life. She asks him why, and he says he loves her so much that he would rather sacrifice himself than let her become evil. They kiss, and she's back to herself. Though their reunion is interrupted when King George's men capture Charming.

He's set to be executed, but the Evil Queen interrupts and offers George enough gold to trade for Charming. She throws him into a prison in a cave. He demands to know what she's going to do, and she just holds up an apple. She leaves him there horrified. Meanwhile, Snow and her friends storm George's castle looking for Charming. In the dungeons Snow encounters the Evil Queen, who demands to be met alone. Later on, Charming is pulled out of his cell by guards for his execution. He breaks free, and battles a few of the guards. He ends up meeting with one of Snow's friends, the Huntsman, and he helps Charming escape. He escapes into a large forest and becomes lost. Rumplestiltskin appears to him a short time later and offers his help. Charming initially refuses, but they end up fighting. Rumplestiltskin wins by using magic, Charming finally consents to his deal, and the Dark One tells him that he must hide this golden egg in the belly of a beast for safekeeping. In return, he will give him his mother's ring, which will be enchanted to lead him to Snow White.

Turns out this beast is a dragon, named Maleficent. Fierce battle, and he ends up getting the golden egg into her. He narrowly escapes by jumping out a window into the lake below. He swims to shore, where Rumplestiltskin is waiting. He honors their deal by giving him his mother's ring and transforming his clothing into new ones. A horse and sword are provided and he races to Snow's side. He finds the dwarves, who are next to Snow's coffin. She was placed in there after eating the cursed apple from the Queen. He kisses her, and with true love's kiss he breaks the spell on her and she awakens. Afterwards, he proposes to her. After she accepts, they plan to take back their kingdom together.

During their war for the kingdom, lives are lost. Charming loses his mother, but not before she's able to see them get married by Lancelot. Things happen with the Queen, and she proves them right in the fact that the Queen can't change. The Queen is banished. They get married finally, and their wedding is crashed by the Queen. She tells them of the upcoming curse. Many moons later, when Snow White becomes pregnant, they discover from Rumplestitskin that their child will be their savior from the curse. It's also revealed that they will have a daughter. After this, Charming and Snow meet with their allies to discuss how to stop the curse. The Blue Fairy tells them of a magical tree that will be able to save one person from the Queen's curse. Geppetto and Pinocchio are charged with turning it into a wardrobe so that the person will be able to transport between worlds.

The day that the wardrobe is finished, several things happen. One, the Queen and her knights invade. Two, Snow goes into labor. She gives birth to Emma. Charming takes Emma to the wardrobe, fighting the Queen's knights along the way. He gets stabbed and left for dead, but he's able to stay conscious enough to see Emma through the wardrobe. Snow finds him just as everyone is enveloped by the curse.

After the curse is cast, David ends up in a coma in Storybrooke's hospital.

A few days after Emma arrives in Storybrooke, Henry asks Emma to convince Mary Margret to read Henry's book to David in the hospital, as it contains storied from the Enchanted Forest. Henry's convinced that David is Charming. Mary Margaret agrees, thinking nothing will come of it. Halfway through the story, he unconsciously grabs her hand. She freaks out, but the doctor tells her that she was imagining things. The next night, David wakes up.

Everything was a whirlwind after that. He's found unconscious, and Mary Margaret saves him at the Toll Bridge. He doesn't remember who he is at all. Back at the hospital, Regina brings Kathryn in, David's wife. He reunites with her, but he feels that nothing seems right except for Mary Margaret. Things get crazier. He tells himself that he's going to leave Kathryn, and when he finally decides to, he regains his memories back and has to tell Mary Margaret that he wants to try and work it out, despite his feelings.

Later on, despite awkward meetings and trying to not let their feelings get in the way of their life, they confess to each other that they feel something for one another and kiss. It's destructive on both of their lives, with the hiding and secret meetings. Kathryn finds out that he's been cheating on her, and Mary Margaret is shunned by most of the town. They break up, though he doesn't want to.

They have their share of problems - mostly him not believing in her when she's nearly framed for Kathryn's disappearance. When he decides to leave Storybrooke, he asks her to give him a reason to stay, and she can't. As he's about to leave town, the curse is broken and he remembers everything. He rushes back to town and reunites with her in the street.

"You found me," she says. "As if you ever doubted I would," he responds in return. He made that vow when they first met. He'd always find her.

After the curse is broken, he's reunited with all of his old friends. He's happy that he has his family back [even if his daughter needs her space because who wouldn't?] Things get crazy after everyone realizes what happened.

He finds himself protecting Regina after a mob sets after her. They confront Mr. Gold about everything, and leave to go protect Regina again after Gold releases something from the other world. They try to send the creature back via the Mad Hatter's hat, but as it's getting sucked in, both Emma and Mary Margaret get sucked in as well. Even after saving her life, Regina tries to kill him, but Ruby and Henry enter and stop her. That's when Henry goes to live with David.

He also has to deal with everyone in town getting angry and wanting to leave, taking over being Sheriff while Emma's gone, Regina up to her evil tricks, King George trying to destroy his life here too. Meanwhile, he and Henry are growing closer. He teaches him how to sword fight, how to take care of a horse and be 'a proper knight.'

They discover that Emma and Mary Margaret are still alive through the nightmares that Henry is having. David, not wanting to risk Henry any more after he wakes up with burns, takes the sleeping curse for himself to try and save Mary Margaret. His plan doesn't work too well, because he thought he could just have her wake him up with a kiss. Since they're in two different worlds, it doesn't work that way. When Emma and Mary Margaret come back, she wakes him up with True Love's kiss.

Things get crazier after that too. Regina is accused of murdering Archie, Mary Margaret wants to get a place of their own, and David realizes he just wants to go home - to the Enchanted Forest. They all get pulled to the town line where Belle gets pushed over the town line only to lose her memory. A stranger crashes there as well. Things aren't too good.

Gold tells Emma that he needs her to go to New York with him, and she brings Henry along. That leaves David and Mary Margaret to find Cora, who is loose in town. They encounter a giant during this time, who mistakes David for his twin, James. Things get a bit better after a misunderstanding is cleared up. They find out after a phone call that Gold's son, Baelfire, is also Henry's father. At least his sense of humor doesn't go away with all the craziness going on, because he mentions that Thanksgiving would be crazy.

At this point Regina's helping Cora, and Hook attacks David while searching for his hook and it's a convoluted mess. When Emma and the group return to town, they all meet in Gold's shop and there's a showdown with Regina and Cora. Mary Margaret causes Cora's death after she curses her heart and while they try and stop it from happening, it happens anyway. Regina swears she'll get revenge, but what's new. They try to go on with their lives, but Mary Margaret isn't herself about what happens. They try to fix things, but a lot doesn't help.

More things happen. Pinocchio comes back, get turned into a real boy again. Happier things. Mary Margaret tells him that she went to tell Regina to kill her, and he gets upset. He finds out that her heart is starting to blacken because of what she did to Cora. David knows that they'll find a way to help her, because he believes in her, like he always has.

Abilities/Special Powers: David is a human, and does not practice magic. He does have some abilities:
-excellent swordsman, and adaptable to most weaponry
-master tactician and strategist
-The ability to stay optimistic no matter what [good will always triumph over evil, love always wins, etc.]
-horrible life choices

Third-Person Sample:

There was a point where David stood back and just watched.

Emma and Mary Margaret where in the kitchen, talking over cocoa, their identical mugs sporting the hot beverage the exact same way. Henry perched on a chair opposite them, books open with his homework, and they all chatted over things that had happened, and things they wanted to do in the upcoming weeks. Family nights, lunches and dinners with friends. It was in that moment, despite all circumstances otherwise, David was happy. He was surrounded by his family, the people who mattered most to him in this world. The ones he would gladly sacrifice himself for if need be. There was something about just watching them that made him smile. At that moment, they didn't have to worry about evil queens, horrible curses, or anyone trying to kill them. They didn't have to worry about magic.

He was pretty sure that he didn't want this moment to end. But, like life, he knew it had to, because tomorrow they'd go back to defending themselves from wickedness. They'd go back to trying to find a niche for themselves in this world, or trying to find a way back home. All he knew was that he wanted to be together with his family, no matter what, and he'd do whatever he could to keep them safe and sound.

Henry's voice broke through his thoughts, and he blinked, nodding at his grandson's invitation to join them. His wife and daughter were laughing about something, his grandson asking him about something they could do that weekend. Clasping his hand on Henry's shoulders, he nodded, but said nothing. These were the moments he lived for; the moments were they were actually a family, despite all of the weird circumstances behind it all. Despite 28 years not remembering, not knowing if their daughter was safe or not. At that point, he was content, and he leaned forward, joining in on the conversation.

First-Person Sample:

[When David arrived, he arrived outside, surrounded by things he certainly did not recognize.]

What is this place- Where am I?

[At that point, he took a breath and vowed to himself to remain calm.] Mary Margaret? Emma, Henry? If you're here, answer me, please. If anyone knows who they are and where I can find them, please tell me.

To anyone else listening, anything you can tell me about this place will be greatly appreciated.
